I study the role of data, information, and technology by nonprofit organizations and their clients. I lead the DAR Lab, where we research how people experiencing migration and the networks that help them navigate and use information technology at the US-MX border.

I am a community based researcher, and conduct qualitative, data science, and ethnographic methods to contribute summative and formative requirements for system design. My primary research fields are Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW).

Oct 2025. We received a DEI Recognition at CSCW'25 for "Data Siloing as Infrastructural Activism" in Bergen, Norway.
May 2025. Our paper, "Data Siloing as Infrastructural Activism" has been published to CSCW'25!
Aug 2024. I have joined NMSU's Department of Computer Science as a tenure-track assistant professor!
Apr 2024. I participated in a panel on Human-Human Interaction for the CRA's Graduate Cohort for Women in Minneapolis, MN, USA.
Jan 2024. I have started a position as a Research Assistant Professor with CAHSI, the Computing Alliance of Hispanic Serving Institutions at UT El Paso

Sept 2023. I successfully defended my dissertation entitled: The Powers and Politics of Data Rhetoric
Sept 2023. "Competing Imaginaries and Partisan Divides in the Data Rhetoric of Advocacy Organizations" has been accepted to CSCW'23!
Aug 2023. I was awarded the CU Boulder Graduate School Dissertation Completion Fellowship for Fall 2023!
May 2023. I received the "2023 Excellence in Teaching" award from the Information Science Dept. at CU Boulder.
April 2023. My first ever first author paper, "Enacting Data Feminism in Advocacy Data Work", has been accepted to CSCW'23!
Jan 2023. I was awarded the Marcella Hertzog Scholarship by the College of CMCI at CU Boulder.
Dec 2022. "Metamorphic Testing and Debugging of Tax Preparation Software" has been accepted to ICSE-SEIS'23!
Nov 2020. I presented a webinar Working with Largescale Text Data for the Cyber Media Association of Indonesia.
Dec 2019. We presented "Creative El Diario", part of a larger piece called "Digital El Diario" at the Center for Research, Data, & Digital Scholarship (CRDDS)
May 2019. I presented "The 2017 Kermanshah Earthquake: an information system design for improving disaster relief" at the 2019 ATLAS Expo.
